What will you learn in this course?
The course "Clicker Trainers-Super Trainers" consists of three very interesting complementary workshops but at the same time independents.
Going Off the Shaping Road
Exquisite Microshaping
Coaching Skills:Training to our clients to succeed.
Friday 6th December: Going Off the Shaping Road
Clicker training is usually associated with the protocol of free shaping behaviours (self directed learning). Traditional training is usually associated with modelling, moulding, luring and prompting (directed learning). But clicker training can be used very effectively, and operantly, with the directed techniques. It can suggested without compromising the dog's choice, it never needs to be coercive or forceful. The workshop will look at the details of using these strategies with clear ethical guidelines and astonishing results. Dogs will be invited to train one at a time to allow everyone to observe and learn in a range of exercises.
Saturday 7th December: Exquisite Microshaping
Shaping requires the trainer to have a clear pathway for the learner to follow. Successive approximation is often mis-understood and the learner will need to extinguish a learned behaviour to be able to walk a new pathway. It is the responsibility of the trainer to remove all stress from this exciting teaching technique and create a successful learning experience. For all learners, all behaviours. Positive training must ensure a positive experience for the learner to be successful. Dogs will be invited to train one at a time to allow everyone to observe and learn in a range of exercises.
Sunday 8th December: Coaching People to Succeed
Our knowledge is dogs and training, but as teachers of dog training we are not training the dogs we are teaching people how to train their dog. This is rooted in their relationship with their dog. This workshop will look at breaking down the skills that people need to achieve to be successful in handling their dogs and build a series of exercises as part of our class where people can experience, practice and understand how to teach their dogs. Shaping people in dog training. Learning to assess, observe, respond and re-direct. People will be invited to train one at a time to allow everyone to observe and learn in a range of exercises.
